Prof. Dr. Mustafa Necmi İLHAN

Born in Elazığ, Harput in 1971, İlhan graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1995. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Health (2001) and a Master's Degree in Hospital Management (2014) from Gazi University, and a PhD in Occupational Health from Ankara University (2007).

İlhan started his career in SSK Yozgat Dispensary in 1995 and worked at SSK Hasanoğlan Dispensary and SSK Health Department.

He started his academic studies as a Research Assistant at Gazi University in 1999 and became a Lecturer in 2004, Assistant Professor in 2007, Associate Professor in 2009 and Professor in 2014 in the Department of Public Health in Internal Medical Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine. Between 2014 and 2023, he served as the Head of the Department of Occupational and Occupational Diseases, and between 2018 and 2023 he served as the Head of the Department of Public Health.

In 2017, he became the Coordinator of the Recognition and Equivalence Commission of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Health Science Fields Advisory Commission.

He is a member of the Ministry of Health's Post-Earthquake Public Health Commission (2023) and a member of the Social Sciences Board (2020-).

He is a member of the TUKMOS Occupational Diseases Commission of the Medical Specialty Board of the Ministry of Health (2021-).

He is a member of the Scientific Board of the Turkish Drug Addiction Monitoring Center (TUBİM) of the Department of Combating Narcotic Crimes, General Directorate of Security, Ministry of Interior (2009-).

He is a member of the Executive Board of Gazi Teknopark (2016-).

He worked as a consultant and expert in the Commissions of Inquiry established to investigate the issues of Violence in Health, Soma Mining Accident and Seasonal Agricultural Workers in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

He took part in many boards, commissions and projects in the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Social Security Institution, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Family and Social Policies.

He worked at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) as a Member of the Delegation to Türkiye, Consultant and Expert.

He worked as a Consultant at the World Health Organization (WHO) on the Impact of Covid-19 on Health Services (2021).

He is the Academic Advisor of Gazi University Faculty of Medicine European Medical Students Association (EMSA-GAZİ).

He is a member of the Health Board of the Turkish University Sports Federation and the Chairman of the Health Board of the Turkish Rugby Federation.

He is a member of Elazığ İzzetpaşa Foundation.

He was honored with the National Struggle Medal of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

He was elected as the Chairman of the Executive Board and the president of the Vocational Qualifications Authority of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security with the election held on August 09, 2023.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Necmi İlhan has been serving as a member of the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) since August 09, 2023.
