Strengthening the Green Rehabilitation of the European Reinforced Concrete Construction Heritage Project (CONCRETO)

The “Strengthening the Green Rehabilitation of the Reinforced Concrete Building Heritage of Europe (CONCRETO)” Project, of which the Vocational Qualifications Authority is a partner, is funded by the Erasmus+ Program under the title of Partnerships for Innovation Main Action 2 Lot 1: Partnerships for Education and Enterprises. The Project, which started on January 1, 2024 and has an implementation period of 36 months, will be completed on December 31, 2026. The total budget of the project is 1,204,681 Euros (80% EU contribution: 963,745 Euros - 20% National contribution: 240,936 Euros).

The contracting authority of the project is the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and the project consortium includes 13 partner organizations (3 Higher Education Institutions, 5 Professional Organizations, 4 Vocational and Technical Education Organizations, 1 NGO operating in the field of Cultural Heritage Protection) from 5 countries (Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Türkiye). From Türkiye, VQA, METU and the Turkish Consulting Engineers and Architects Association (TürkMMMB) are included in the consortium.

Consortium Members

Within the scope of the project activities, professions and skills in the field of protection and repair of concrete structures will be analyzed, a comprehensive skill development program including distance, in-class and on-the-job training and field applications will be designed and around 30 participants will be provided with the opportunity to benefit from these trainings each year, and guides, application guides and audiovisual training materials for the protection/reinforcement of concrete will be prepared for professionals and students working in this field. The "learning by doing" based skill development program within the scope of the project and materials aimed at increasing professional skills will contribute to the formation of the qualified workforce needed in the green rehabilitation of the European building heritage.

During the project process, national and international conferences, workshops, seminars and regional information meetings will be organized for the protection of reinforced concrete structures, awareness-raising activities will be carried out, and promotional and information materials will be prepared. In the long term, it is aimed that the project outputs contribute to the goal of training expert professionals in the field of building protection by providing input for an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Program.
